Fine Art by Rowan

Hand painted yarns each have their own personality and Rowan's much anticipated Fine Art is no exception. All 8 colors are finally here and it's definitely been worth the wait!

This fingering weight yarn blends luxury and practicality with the fiber content - 45% Merino Wool, 20% Mohair, 10% Mulberry Silk and 25% Polymide - making it durable enough for a pair of socks, yet luscious enough for a variety of accessories.

Any project with this yarn will be stunning and machine washable!

Fine Art is sourced, spun and hand painted at Cape Mohair Spinners in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. They are committed to securing raw material from suppliers who place high value in ensuring that the natural products utilized remain sustainable and are produced in ways which are responsive to both the environment and the community.

They are also focused on positively impacting their employees. In Cape Mohair Spinners own words:
If there is one aspect of this business we'd really like to highlight, it's the empowerment of individuals. The hand-painting was born from the desire to be independent and self-empowered and this attitude continues to define the way the whole department functions.
The ladies we have working with us come from some of the poorest and still marginalized communities in the area. One of our goals from the very beginning was to introduce and develop the ideas of personal responsibility and integrity and to create an opportunity for genuine improvement in the living standards and experience of the people who work with us.

Their emphasis on personal quality control and pride in the product is apparent in each and every skein of Fine Art. If you're looking for inspiration, Alisa is getting ready to cast on our shop sample and you can follow her progress on her blog Alisa The Yarnista

Visit us at the shop to see Fine Art in person!

Handmade for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is right around the corner and the window for handmade is slowly closing, but you can still make Mom something special.
Shoulder Cozy by Churchmouse Yarns & Teas
The Shoulder Cozy's textural combination of Rowan's Summer Tweed and Kidsilk Haze is irresistible. Simplicity at its best, this versatile accessory knits up in just an evening - cast on one for Mom and when you're done, you'll still have time to knit one for yourself.

Color pairing has been a ton of fun over the last few weeks and more colors of Summer Tweed just arrived, so now there are even more options!

Our Shoulder Cozy sample has been getting all the attention in the shop - some knitters are on a second or third - don't worry, we won't divulge names.

Happy Shoulder Cozy Knitting!
